This week, our Golden TWIG (This Week in Guadalajara) goes to the NEW Park Puerta de la Barranca 🙏
Why? It's a small quiet park surrounded by nature, very clean, with a beautiful panoramic view of the Barranca de Huentitán, a canyon carved by the Río Grande de Santiago.
Where: Puerta de la Barranca Park, Av. Belisario Domínguez 4444, Dr Atl, 44399 Guadalajara https://goo.gl/maps/SF9CDNQknyGGYQpF8
When: Daily - 7am - 7pm
Details:
After six years of work, they inaugurated the new Park in July 2022.
The total cost of the rehabilitation of this park, was 25 million pesos.
With the idea that people can exercise or relax before or after going up the ravine, this new space is very close to the descent of the viewpoint and the chapel.
It is equipped with green areas, playgrounds, exercise equipment, picnic tables and even showers so that people who exercise can take a bath there and go straight to work.
The park has an influx of approximately 50 people a day and on the weekend it has a flow of up to 100 people.
Ecological benefits: “It is one of the first parks of its kind, since it has solar panels that make it self-sufficient. In addition to generating its energy supply, it can get to collect energy that is next to the CFE, which reduces costs”.
Pollinating gardens: The park has “some small planters that generate a lot of pollen and serve so that the bees can develop it naturally.”
This new public space is part of a larger project that attempts to rehabilitate the canyon area.
Entrance to the park is FREE. Only the entrance to the showers would have a recovery cost when they are inaugurated.
PET friendly!
Special tip: Get the picnic tables on the North / Left side of the park for the BEST panoramic view of the Barranca de Huentitán. We celebrated this year Mexico's Independence Day there with 16 friends, and felt in Heaven.
Emotions you may encounter: Peace. Hiking crave. Plans to return for a picnic with family & friends.
