Golden TWIG 11/11/22: Favorite Día de Los Muertos Events 2022 ✨

This week, our Golden TWIG (This Week in Guadalajara) goes to announcing our favorite Día de Los Muertos events 2022

Why? Día de Los Muertos' celebration just ended and we had so many events to chose from (almost too many). Here are TWIG's favorites. The ones that touched our hearts and excited our minds. SAVE that list for next year! If you don't see your favorites in that list, share them in your comments!

When: Past events. SAVE that list for next year!

Where: Guadalajara and its surroundings.

Our FAVORITES are:

  • Catrina: The Fashion City of Zapotlanejo created the 2nd largest Catrina in the world, 18 meters (exhibited until November 13). 15 minutes drive from GDL. Article. YouTube video.

  • Altar: Calaverandia theme park. We wereamazed by the largest altar of the dead we have ever seen, 12 meters high and 7 fantastic levels full of art, mariachis and magic. ✨

  • City Decoration: Tlaquepaque. The El Refugio Cultural Center, the Pantaleón Panduro museum, Jardín Hidalgo and the Municipal Cemetery delivered pure beauty for the eyes.

  • Atypical Activity: Getting married in a symbolic way and be given a marriage certificate alluding to the Day of the Dead at The pavilion “Until death binds us” in Plaza de Armas, Guadalajara Centro Historico.

  • Authenticity: The Mayan ceremony Hanal Pixan at beautiful Casa ITESO Clavigero (Colonia Americana). We loved that it was limited to 250 guests and included performances, ambiance and special meal.

  • Concert: Listening to the Requiem of Mozart by the Zapopan Municipal Choir at the cementary Belén Panteón Museum. It was just so special. ✨

  • Skulls: Ajijic. The inauguration of the skull wall #2 on Flores Magon, thanks to the man, the myth, the legend… Efren González.

  • Parade: What was your favorite parade this year?

  • Regrets: We missed exploring a Cempasúchil Field at Rancho San Juan Diego, just 45 minutes from GDL. ✨

Special tip: It was quite laborious navigating the 40+ events offered. TWIG Día de Los Muertos magical experience report made all its subscribers very happy🙂 Don't miss it in 2023.

Emotions you may encounter: Fascination. Nostalgia. Impatience to do it again next year!
